Several hundred local inhabitants staged demonstrations in Paltan area on Sunday, with the remains of Ritu Akter found killed inside a local commercial building.
The demonstration followed the namaj-e-janaza, and also included a human chain protest in front of the National Press Club, demanding punishment for the killers.
The body of the child was brought on the press club premises at about 4:00pm after autopsy. She was buried at the Azimpur graveyard later.
The six people arrested over the killing were produced before a Dhaka court on Sunday, seeking permission to interrogate them over the murder.
The arrests were made after the child’s mother Nurjahan Begum filed a murder case against some unnamed killers.
The decomposed body of the 11-year-old Ritu Akter was recovered from a toilet on the third floor of the Tropicana Tower at Purana Paltan roundabout Saturday afternoon.
Investigators suspect the minor, who used to carry luncheon for some people working at travel agencies in the building, was raped before she was killed.
The body of the child was brought at the press club premises at around 4:00pm after autopsy. She was buried at the Azimpur graveyard later.
