The decomposed body of a minor girl was found in a toilet of a commercial building at Topkhana Road in the capital Saturday noon.
Police arrested three people in this connection.
Claiming that the victim was raped and later killed, neighbours and family members blocked the Topkhana Road for three hours, demanding the arrest of the culprits.
Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police, however, said they could not confirm if she was raped as the body was decomposed.
He said the police was waiting for the post-mortem report.
The OC said, informed by officials of the building, they recovered the body from a common toilet on the 3rd floor of Tropicana Tower. The toilet was locked.
The deceased Ritu, 10, daughter of Nurjahan Begum, used to supply lunch, cooked by her mother, to different offices, said her neighbours.
Her mother told reporters that Ritu remained missing since Monday evening when she went to the building to collect food boxes.
She had taken food for Golam Mostafa at White Rose Travels, Selim Biswas at Air Piece Travel and Nazrul at Naser Travels on the floor, said her family members.
Md Abdul Jalil, inspector (investigation) of Shahbagh police, said they had collected evidence from the spot and clothes of the girl was sent for examination.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 4:00pm for post-mortem.
The police detained, Nazrul Islam, 40, Golam Mostofa, 26, and Selim Biswas, 23, who worked in different offices on the floor, Jalil said.
Rita lived in a tin-shed house near the building at Segunbagicha with her mother. She was from Tangail.
