Garment workers demand labour law amendment

All Party Garments Workers Unity on Friday demanded amendment to the labour law in the next parliament session ensuring garment workers’ right to trade union.
At a human chain formed in front of the National Press Club, the garment labour leaders also said that the Awami League-led government had an election pledge to amend the Labour Act 2006, to make it more democratic and workers’ friendly.
Jatiya Garments Sramik Federation president Amirul Haque Amin, garment labour leaders Quamrul Ahsan, Babul Akter, Lima Ferdaus, Mohammad Delwar Hossain and Nurul Islam addressed the human chain.
