The police were not able to arrest anyone till Friday regarding the Tuesday’s acid attack on a student of Eden Girls’ College.
Sharmin Akhter Akhi, a fourth-year student of Bangla department at the college, admitted to the burn and plastic surgery unit at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital is still in critical condition.
On Friday, foreign minister Dipu Moni and state minister for women and children affairs Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury visited the student at the hospital.
Victim’s family, in a case filed with the Bangshal police, accused Monir Uddin and his friend Masum of throwing acid and stabbing her as she refused to marry Monir at a marriage registrar’s office at Chankharpool in the capital on January 15.
The Bangshal police inspector Abul Hasan, also the case investigation officer, said they were trying to arrest the two men.
The DMCH authorities on Thursday formed a five-member medical board with senior physicians for Sharmin’s treatment.
The board will start operating on her next week to fix the damaged cells.
