DU theatre stages The Measures Taken in India

Theatre department of Dhaka University staged German playwright Bertolt Brecht’s play The Measures Taken at the 15th Rang Moha International Theater Festival at Sree Ram Center in Delhi, India on January 10, said a press release.
Translated by Shahman Moishan and directed by Israfil Shaheen, the play depicts rigidity of the communists through the confessions of some communist soldiers, who forced one of their comrades to die. The accusation against him was his immense love for ordinary men.    
 About the production, director Israfil Shaheen, informed New Age, ‘Dialectics of Bertolt Brecht is very similar to our indigenous performances in terms of presentational mode. That’s why we felt enthusiastic in portraying Brecht on our theatre.’
Twenty three artistes including Imam Abdullah Hakim Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, Sultana Yeasmin, Nasrin Islam, Nila Saha, Musammat Momotaz, Nadia Afrin, Mohammad Shaifuzzaman, Bithyka Yasmin, Sajia Afruj, Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Nasirul Islam, Mohammad Faridul Islam, Sayed Muhammad Zubayer and others acted in the play
Besides, four shows of the play were also staged on January 01 to 04 at the Nat Mandal, Dhaka University.
