MP Giasuddin threatens pry edn ministry staff

Staff Correspondent

The ruling Awami League lawmaker for the Gaffargaon constituency, retired captain Giasuddin Ahmed, on Thursday threatened two staff at the office of the primary and mass education minister in the secretariat allegedly over a delay in providing a photocopy.
Giasuddin misbehaved with Abu Yusuf Bhuiyan, personal officer to the primary and mass education minister, Afsarul Ameen, and Moinuddin, personal officer to the the minister’s private secretary, as they had allegedly delayed providing the photocopy of a document which he wanted to fax from the ministry.
The minister’s office staff alleged that the lawmaker had shouted at them, saying that he used to open fire even for trivial issues as they could not provide the photocopy of the document to be faxed on demand.
The lawmaker left the place quickly without making any comment as reporters rushed to the ministry.
Afsarul Ameen, however, told reporters that it was just misunderstanding and had been instantly settled. ‘There were some behavioural problems… Nothing else,’ the minister said.
Giasuddin came under fire from various quarters, including his party leaders, after he had pulled his licensed gun from his car and fired a round on May, 2012 when the lawmaker came to be attacked by a mob at Gaffargaon.
