Chhayanaut organised a commemoration programme on recently demised iconic Nazrul singer Sohrab Hossain, who was also a teacher of the organisation.
Popular Nazrul singers performed at the programme held at its auditorium on Friday.
The event began with the chorus presentation of Jago Amrito Piyashi. Subsequently, Chhayanaut principal Dr Sanjida Khatun recalled the Nazrul singer from whom she learnt music for three years in her early life.
‘He had a unique style of teaching music. He had wonderful skill of presenting Sachin Dev Burman’s songs. And used to present kirtan Chhuiyo chhuiyo badhu frequently,’ recalling her teacher Sanjida Khatun said.
‘More interestingly, he used to talk in the manner of Bibhuti Bhushan’s classic Pather Panchali,’ she added.
Her speech was followed by solo presentation of popular Nazrul songs. Eminent Nazrul singer Khairul Anam Shakil presented O nishitho samadhi, Joseph Kamol Radrix rendered Kandbo na ar,  Bijan Chandra Mistry sang Sanjher pakhira, Suman Chowdhury rendered Ami chirotorey, Farhana Aktar Sharley presented Ghumiye gechhe, Fakir Shahidul Alam sang Nabo kisholoye ranga, among others at the programme.
The programme ended with presentation of the National Anthem.
