6 killed in traffic accidents

At least six people were killed and two injured in separate traffic accidents at places across the country on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
New Age correspondent in Cox’s Bazar reported that a woman and a child were killed in separate traffic accidents on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway.
Witnesses said a Chittagong bound pickup van hit Lailya Begum, 55, wife of Jafar Alam of Breandarkhill village of Chakaria upazila, at Baniarchara point on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway at about 10:00am, leaving her dead on the spot.
In another incident, Bedarul Alam, 6, a student of Bangla Bazar KG School and son of Mahabub Alam of Mukterkhool village under Cox’s Bazar sadar upazila, was killed after a microbus rammed into him at Bangla Bazar point on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway at about 11:00am.
Local people seized the microbus, but driver fled away.
New Age correspondent in Narayanganj reported that a woman cloth trader was killed in a traffic accident at Aukhabo on Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Wednesday.
Witnesses said a truck hit Amena Khatun, 40, wife of Yusuf Mia of Keraniganj police station in Dhaka, while she was crossing the road. She died on the spot.
In Nilphamari, two persons including a teenage boy were killed in separate traffic accidents in Kishoreganj upazila on Tuesday night, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
Bicyclist Rezaul Islam, 14, of Puthimari village under Kishoreganj upazila in Nilphamari, was killed on the spot while a truck rammed into his running bicycle from the back at the upazila town around 8.30pm on Tuesday.
Besides, pedestrian Zaher, 45, of Khamar village under Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district, was killed when another truck crushed him at Garagram point on Rangpur-Dalia road under Kishoreganj upazila.
In Khulna, bodyguard of a deputy inspector general of police was killed and two others injured in a traffic accident at Porabari on Khulna-Satkhira highway in the district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was Chowdhury Russel Parvez, 42, son of Chowdhury Liakat Hossain of South Sattery village under Sadar upazila in Bagerhat district.
