The third edition of artist Md Abu Salim’s cartoon exhibition titled My Beloved Motherland 3 began on Wednesday at the Galerie Zoom of Alliance Française de Dhaka.
Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, chairman of National Human Rights Commission, inaugurated the exhibition satirising the socio-political turmoil as chief guest.
Eminent cartoonist Ahsan Habib was present as special guest at the inauguration ceremony presided over by Olivier Litvine, director of Alliance Française de Dhaka.
‘My beloved Motherland 3’ exhibition features the latest cartoons drawn by Abu Salim. The focus of his exhibition is mainly to denounce corruption, terrorism, and dominance of muscle power both in society and politics.
Moreover, the satirist has addressed the other well discussed topics including land and river encroachment, environmental pollution, moral degradation and others.
Being an artist, Abu Salim feels an obligation to express his observation and honest feelings through his artistic expression to say ‘No’ to all the misdeeds that are commonly perpetrated by only a section of people in the society.
The exhibition will be open to all until Monday. Visiting hours for the show:  Mondays to Thursdays from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays (9:00am to12:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm).
