Power providing stove
A news report, published on January 6, in local English-language daily is possibly the best news to start year with. It was about a new invention named SCORE (stove for cooking, or refrigeration and electricity), where the ordinary kerosene stove, can cook as well as provides electricity enough to light an eight watt LED lamp too.
It was an excellent innovation by the mechanical engineering students at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology to produce this remarkable household equipment that looks set to win the heart of even a remote village housewife, where there is no supply of electricity.
I hope you will keep up the good work, my young fellow aspiring engineers, and make the nation proud of you. I feel even happier, being an engineer, graduating in 1954 from its mother institution: The Ahsanullah Engineering College.
I congratulate all the teachers, students and staffs of the Mechanical Engineering Department of BUET who were involved with this remarkable project from the deepest of my heart.
