A fire broke out at the Rasulbagh slum in the capital’s Mohakhali area on Monday evening, leaving more than 150 dwellers homeless and 25 dwellers injured.
Witnesses said that the fire originated from burning charcoal in slum manager Jamal Hossain’s room at about 8:00pm.
Ten fire engines from nearby stations rushed to the slum behind Metropolitan Hospital at Mohakhali and doused the blaze after one hour.
Tejgaon industrial police station duty officer subinspector Nazmul Haque said no death was reported till 9:30pm. The affected dwellers were seen taking shelters on nearby pavement.
