A businessman was stabbed to death allegedly by his friend in the Sylhet city Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Shammi Aktar Sabbir, 25, owner of a shoe store at Laldighirpar Hawkers’ Market and resident of Fulbagh at Kushighat in the city.
Businessmen of the market said Sabbir died immediately after he was stabbed near his shop at around 10:00pm.
Kotwali police second officer Mohammed Mobashwir told New Age that they have known from the primary investigation that the victim’s friend Lokman stabbed him to death.
‘There was a love affair between Sabbir and Lokman’s sister and we suspect that Lokman might have killed him over the matter,’ Mobashwir said.
The body was handed over to the family Monday afternoon after postmortem examination at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, he said, adding that no case was filed with the police and no one was arrested in this connection still Monday 4:00pm.
