RU students rally against session jam

RU Correspondent

Physiology department students at Rajshahi University on Wednesday observed a sit-in on the campus in protest at session jam in the department.
Witnesses said the students observed the sit-in in front of the department’s office at the second science building from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The students shouted slogans against the department authorities during the programme.
The demands of the students included preparing an effective academic calendar, holding the examinations of all sessions as soon as possible, publishing results within 90 days from the date of completion of examination, holding classes regularly and appointing necessary teachers at the department to overcome problems.
At the gathering, the students alleged that now there were seven batches at the department while it should be five batches.
They informed that they had yet to complete their fourth year under 2007-08 sessions while all other department students had finished their masters.
They also alleged that the problem of session jam had become acute at the department due to engaging in private activities and politics by the teachers.
On contacted, department chairmen Syed M Ziauddin said that they were trying to solve the problem.
Later, the students also brought out a procession on the campus.
