Kibria Print Fair begins

With the slogan ‘Print for All,’ Dhaka Art Centre’s  Kibria Print Fair offers some exquisite prints created by the prominent and promising artists of the country. 
 The six-day print fair began on Tuesday marking the 84th birth anniversary of artist Mohammad Kibria that falls on January 1 and also to celebrate the third founding anniversary of Dhaka Art Centre. 
The fair was inaugurated by noted Japanese artist Koichi Takita who has a deep attachment with the country’s fine art and has been honoured with this year’s Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Award by the Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University recently.
In the inaugural ceremony Takira recalled his memory with the master artist Kibria. Dean of Charukala Abul Barq Alvi was the chief guest of the programme while noted artists Rafiqun Nabi, Rashid Amin and Wakilur Rahman delivered speeches. 
Five printmaking departments of Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Khulna University, Rajshahi University and University of Development Alternative along with six printmaking studios:  Kibria Printmaking Studio of DAC, Atelier ‘71, Cosmos Atelier ‘71, Bornika Print Studio, Bangladesh Printmakers Association and Shafiuddin Bengal Printmaking Studio are participating at the fair.
Dhaka University’s print department’s stall presents fabulous works of its teachers like Anisuzzaman, Jamal Ahmed, Rokeya Sultana and Rokon-Uz-Zaman Uzzal and the students.
Fabulous prints by eminent artists Monirul Islam, Nisar Hossain, Wakilur Rahman, Biren Shom, Shishir Bhattacharya and many promising artists are displayed at the Kibria Printmaking Studio.
Bornika Home Studio is displaying printmaking works and various accessories wall-calendars, note-books, post-cards, book-markers and CD covers pasted with prints.
The displayed works are also for sale.
On the opening day, a huge number of people gathered at the fair. Limana Solaiman, a visitor at the fair who bought three prints, told New Age, ‘Printmaking has a pro-people characteristic. This fair brings opening for us to buy such quality works.’
Another visitor Russel said that he visited last year’s fair and expressed his happiness for the continuation of the fair.
