A youth organisation, Ethics Club Bangladesh, on Tuesday called for cultivating morality among the people.
They also demanded that January 1 should be declared ‘World Ethics Day’.
They made the urge on the government while marking the day on the Swaparjita Swadhinata premises at Dhaka University.
Addressing the discussion as chief guest, Bangladesh ambassador and its permanent representative to UN, AK Abdul Momen, said he would ask the government to place the demand for observing the day nationally and internationally.
Later, he also read out a written oath at the programme, chaired by president of the organisation ME Chowdhury Shamim.
ECB chief executive Dilara A Khan, Professor Raton Siddique and students from different universities also addressed the programme.
Earlier, they brought out a procession that paraded different streets on the campus.
