The Bangladesh Premier League got their new title sponsor in Prime Bank Limited after the latter completed signing the agreement for Tk six crore with tournament’s event management company Game On Sports Management Limited at Mirpur on Tuesday.
Earlier in the first edition of BPL Destiny-Boishakhi was the title sponsor.
The bank had taken several initiatives recently and had shown keen interest to get active in Bangladesh cricket with the latest in being getting involved in the lone Twenty20 tournament.
The bank also operates a club in the Dhaka Premier League while it also owns a franchisee in the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League by the name of Prime Bank South Zone.
‘We are happy to get the opportunity of becoming the title sponsor of BPL,’ Sirajul Islam Mollah, chairman of the bank, told reporters.
‘Cricket is the most popular game in Bangladesh and if we can take part in cricket helping it going forward, then other banks will also be inspired to come to invest like us for the development of cricket,’ he added.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan was the chief guest at the signing programme that was also attended by several high officials from the bank and the cricket Board.
The logo was unveiled after Game On chairman Enayetur Rahman and Prime Bank’s managing director and chief executive officer Ehsan Khasru completed the signing for their respective parties.
