The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal faction led by Hasanul Haq Inu on Wednesday planned programmes spanning a year to mark the 40th founding anniversary of the party.
The party’s Dhaka city unit will hold a reunion in the capital on November 30. The party will also hold discussions, seminars and other programmes throughout the year, a party release said.
Leaders of the party placed a wreath at the portraits of the late party leaders, including Abu Taher Ahmed, Kazi Aref Ahmed, Akhlaqur Rahman, Mosharraf Hossain and Swapan Kumar Chawdhury, at the Taher Auditorium at its central office in Dhaka in the morning.
The party’s president Hasanul Haq Inu, also the information minister, standing committee member Shirin Akhter, vice-president Mir Hossain Akhter, Nari Jote convener Afroza Haq Rina and others took part in the programme.
Later at midday, the leaders placed a wreath on the graves of the late party leaders MA Jalil, Kazi Aref Ahmed, Noor Alam Ziku and Mohammad Shahjahan in the martyred intellectuals’ graveyard at Mirpur.
The faction led by ASM Abdur Rob did not announce any programme on the occasion. It, however, held a discussion at its central office.
