Citibank NA honoured popular singer Subir Nandi with a lifetime achievement award at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel on Friday.
The programme titled Gaan-e Gaan-e Gunijan featured discussion and a solo presentation by the musical genius.
Managing director and Citibank’s country officer for Bangladesh Rashed Maqsood, Mahbub Jamil along with former special assistant to the chief adviser to the caretaker government Mahbub Jamil, who is also chairman of Singer Banglades,h presented the singer with a crest and portrait.
Subir Nandi, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the organisers for showing him the great honour.
The evening turned to be a pleasant one with the presentation of an array of evergreen songs by the seasoned singer.
Subir Nandi moved the audience from the very beginning of the show by presenting a popular playback Din jai katha thakey.
Nostalgia grabbed the house while he was singing the melancholic song Amr e duti chokh pathor to noy.
The houseful audience welcomed the singer with a round of applause as he presented self composed song Kon phaguney birohey purlio hridoy.
The audience also enjoyed his popular numbers Hajar moner kachhey proshno rekhey and Ami brister kachh theke kandtey shikhechhi.
His voice modulation while presenting the raga based song Oi maha shindhur opar thekey was equally enjoyable.
In response to the audience Subir Nandi presented Bandhu hotey cheye tomar and ended the show.
 Former advisor to the caretaker government Rokia Afzal Rahman  and eminent singer Ferdousi Rahman greeted  Subir Nandi with a flower bouquet at the end of the programme.
Earlier Citibank NA honored leading singers including Late Nilufar Yasmin, Farida Parveen, Feroza Begum, Sanjida Khatun, Late Shorab Hossain, Ferdausi Rahman, Sabina Yasmin and Rizwana Choudhury Bannya for their outstanding contribution to Bangla music.
